Columcille Terms & Conditions of Rental

HALL & CAFE hire:

The venue may be hired:

Monday to Thursday 5pm – 11pm
Friday 5pm – 12am
Saturday 9am-12am
Sunday 9am – 11.00pm

The venue is hired unstaffed.  Cafe/kitchen equipment  may be used at your own risk- you will find clear instructions on how to operate all equipment in a red folder on the book shelf.  All consumables, tea towels etc.  must however be provided by the hirer.

Environmental Health have advised that the kitchen is too small to store/prepare raw meat, therefore any group using the kitchen wishing to serve meat products would have to bring them onto premises precooked. You will find a ‘Cooksafe’ folder in the kitchen area. Please refer to the ‘house rules’ section before your food/beverage preparation begins if you do not have a CIEH Food Safety certificate.

Our Public Entertainments License enables weekend and evening lets.  Since we are in a residential area we kindly ask that all noise during your event and on arriving/departing/during smoking breaks outside be kept to a manageable level, respecting the fact that there are neighbours next door.  Music levels must be monitored and kept within agreed limits.  Alcohol is permitted on the premises for your own consumption, BYOB or by donation only.  Sale of alcohol is prohibited under our licence but you may obtain a licence to serve alcohol from the council if you wish (please leave adequate time to obtain this – council can advise).

BOOKINGS: Please note that your booking is only confirmed once 25% (non refundable) deposit has been paid.  Balance to be paid in full within seven days prior to hire date.   We generally ask for a refundable security deposit for first time rental clients.  If due to unforeseen circumstances we are forced to cancel your booking, of course we would refund your payment in full.

ACCESS, SECURITY & respecting our NEIGHBOURS:

Arrangements should be made with the Columcille Administrator (approx. a week in advance of your event) regarding collection and return of keys (keys to be signed out and in).  In the interests of security, please ensure that once your event begins that THE MAIN DOORS ARE CLOSED.  Please also note that the hall is adjacent on both sides to residential accommodation. Any disturbance experienced by local residents at night as people enter and leave Columcille could result in the loss of our license, so please ensure that people do not create undue noise around the building entrance at the beginning or end of session, or during smoking breaks.  After 9pm please proceed towards main street for smoking.  In an emergency, or in event of alarm being set off in error please call Martin Dawson (Manager) immediately – contact details will be provided.

ALL AREAS must be left as they were found (e.g. chairs stacked to side) and in a clean and tidy condition for the next hall rental client’s use.  Cleaning materials can be found in the slated cupboard by the toilets in the foyer. Please ensure that all machines in cafe/kitchen are turned off before you leave, that all rubbish is taken out to the wheelie bin outside main door, and that any recycling goods e.g. glass bottles/cans are taken away with you for recycling – if goods for recycling are found in the regular bin we may get fined by council.  Please ensure that all lights are switched off.

Any breakages or damage to furniture, fixtures or the fabric of the building must be made known to us.
Columcille accepts no liability for damage or loss of property brought into the building.
