A CARER’S TESTIMONIAL:

My daughter Carole has attended Columcille Centre for about 10 years.  She has always enjoyed her time there.  There are so many things she likes to get involved with including working in the cafe and craft work.  On Fridays she has her music (Abba!) and dancing.  She has also been in a lot of drama productions over the years; from being The Angel Gabriel to the Inn Keeper in the nativity.  There is always a friendly atmosphere and the centre is always clean and warm.  She has made lots of friends and the staff are caring and supportive; as Carole says, the staff and her friends are always nice to her.

If you have a relative, or a person you are caring for, who may enjoy and benefit from attending activities at Columcille, please have a look at this website and u e-mail Columcille or telephone to speak with the manager (direct line 0131 446 6875) to explore possibilities.

Involving a Social Worker, Local Area Coordinator, Community Nurse or other professional would most likely be necessary, to aid the referral process.  There is a referral form to complete which helps us look at what spaces we have here in requested activities.

An exploratory visit will be arranged which is helpful in deciding if Columcille will be able to meet the person’s individual needs and wishes.  If this meeting is mutually positive and space is available, the place would be reserved and a short trial period agreed.   Participants may attend for anything from half a day per week to five days per week.

Places at Columcille are  funded either by Direct Payments or via Health and Social Care, at the City of Edinburgh Council. A social worker will normally manage the application process. If you do not have a social worker you can request one by contacting Social Care Direct, telephone number, 0131 200 2324 and see the link below.
