Music for ALL is paused for the time being as the venues are not open. Graeme is running online courses and sessions called Homemade Jam (when musicians get together to play music it is often called a Jam). these are run by Graeme separate from Columcille. Please do join the courses to play music together again. it is possible to just see Graeme or have a gallery view. people say it is great.
We hope that in due time we will be able to start running music courses again , though there will need to be clear health and safety issues sorted first.
In normal times Music for ALL runs 6 music courses each week and has a party and ceilidh band called Coracle for events related to Music for ALL.Music for ALL is a social enterprise project (ESEN reg 74)
The course programmes are linked to the foot of this page – please scroll down. The courses are focused to be welcoming and accessible to people with learning disabilities and are designed to encourage participation and enjoyment. We play a wide range of music plus developmental activities such as turn taking, literacy (recognising words of songs) and numeracy (beat counting, clapping etc). Musical instruments are supplied and there is no requirement about experience – just a wish to be there and participate in the ways that suit each person. The input of support staff is important in assisting students to participate in their individual ways and to enjoy being part of making music. Music for ALL aims to be a “screen free” environment! We request use of mobiles and chatting is only during tea break.
We run six courses per term (3 terms/year) in the following locations:
- The Nelson Hall Community Centre on Monday and Wednesday and Thursdays.
- Richmond Craigmiller Church Hall on Tuesday and Friday,
- The Pitcairn Centre, Bonnyrigg on Mondays
Dates and information: The autumn term starts on the 6th January for the Bonnyrigg course and on the 13th Janaury for the Edinburgh courses
NB We have some spaces on Thursdays and 2 on Monday morning. Please contact Alison for further information.
