Music for ALL runs 6 music courses and has a great party and ceilidh band for events such as ceilidhs and parties related to Music for ALL. The courses are focused to welcome and be accessible to people with learning disabilities and are designed to encourage participation and enjoyment. There is a wide range of music plus developmental activities such as turn taking, literacy (recognising words of songs) and numeracy (beat counting, clapping etc). Musical instruments are supplied and there is no requirements about experience – just a wish to be there and participate in the ways that suit each person.
The input of support staff is important in assisting students to participate in their individual ways and to enjoy being part of making music. Music for ALL aims to be a “screen free” environment! We request use of mobiles and chatting is only during tea break.
We run six courses per term (3 terms/year) in the following locations:
- The Nelson Hall Community Centre on Monday and Wednesday (and Thursdays from September)
- Richmond Craigmiller Church Hall on Tuesday and Friday,
- Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre on Thursdays – changing to The Nelson Hall from September
