October 2023

We are in the process of building a new website which will
take a few months. In the meantime, here is some basic
information on who we are, and activities we offer.

Who we are

Columcille is a day support service for adults with learning disabilities based in
Morningside, Edinburgh and provides workshops in music, drama, art, dance, crafts,
woodwork, printing, keep fit, pottery, a café and gardening. We also offer therapies in
rhythmic massage, music therapy and movement therapy. We are open Monday to
Friday 9.00 – 4.00 (3.00pm Wednesday).
We welcome people aged 18 and over to our service and can meet the needs of a
wide range of individuals. Each person is valued as a unique individual with gifts.
Our work, using hand crafts along with performance-based activities and seasonal
celebrations provides purpose, rhythm, structure and a community to belong to.
We are responsive to changing needs, providing some support in the community.

We provide a warm social setting where people are supported to take part in
purposeful activities and meaningful work.
Individual outcomes include improved self-esteem, a sense of purpose, being
valued, and improved physical and mental health.
Our ethos aims to address the needs of the whole person – head, hand, and heart –
and uphold the dignity of each human being. It has it’s roots in the principles of social
therapy that grew out of the work of Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian writer and teacher.
We are registered with the Care Inspectorate for up to 30 people to attend each day.
